Accomplishments 2001 - 2005

  • The Career and Technical Education program continues to embrace the belief that all students can and should be taught at a college preparatory level and should be given the appropriate supports necessary to succeed.

 

  • All of the Career and Technical Education programs continue the process of aligning curricula with the standards required by the Massachusetts Certificates of Occupational Proficiency.

 

  • Literacy and numeracy remain critical components of the Explore process.

 

  • Technology is embedded in all Career and Technical Education curricula, especially with the freshman Explore program and the required Senior Project.

 

  • Career and Technical Education Chapter 74 students are required to do a Senior Project, a high standards culmination of their Career and Technical Education experience.

 

  • Development of hybrid high-tech occupational education electives for all secondary students remains a priority.

 

  • The Career and Technical Education program continues to expand career awareness throughout the district.

 

  • Data continues to drive all curricula

 

  • High Schools That Work key practices and goals continue to be implemented through Career and Technical Education curricula planning.

 

  • The writing portfolio system used by the Explore 2000 Program encourages students to use academic content and skills to address real-world projects and problems.

 

  • Integrated projects encompassing high standard core academics continue to be embedded in the Career and Technical Education programs.

 

  • The following nationally recognized certifications are in place:

 

  • American Welding Society

 

  • ServSafe

 

  • American Design and Drafting Association

 

  • ALL DATA

 

  • OSHA

 

  • CISCO

 

  • Electives such as CISCO and Theater Arts have enabled more academic students the opportunity to experience Career and Technical Education offerings.

 

  • The Career and Technical Education program continues to integrate academic, Chapter 74 and technical components.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to provide students with strong experience in and understanding of all aspects of the industry.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to provide professional development, based on nationally-recognized best practices, for teachers, counselors, and administrators.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to initiate, improve, expand and modernize quality education programs.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to link secondary and post-secondary career and technical programs.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to involve parents, businesses and labor organizations in the design, implementation and evaluation of programs.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to offer Cooperative Education work experiences with an emphasis on the Work Based Learning Plan.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to offer academic students the opportunity for School to Career work experiences with an emphasis on the Work Based Learning Plan.

 

  • The Electrathon Vehicle project continues to integrate academic and career and technical education.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to support a comprehensive guidance system to provide career guidance and academic counseling for students.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to define programs for special populations.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to support nontraditional training and employment activities.

 

  • Career and Technical Education continues to upgrade curricula with purchases of state of the art equipment such as a Plasma CAM.
