Drafting Technology I

Grade 10

Course Description:

Students will be introduced to the field of drafting. During the first full year in the program students are put through the basics in drafting techniques and applications. The student completing the course will be able to demonstrate an understanding of careers within the drafting field, such as technical detailing, sketching, engineering, and architectural drawing. This course is the second of three Drafting Technology courses, which students must take to complete a Drafting Technology career major and it is a prerequisite for Drafting Technology II and III. It is recommended for all students who may want to prepare for further study in a range of engineering fields at the post secondary level, whether or not the students pursue a career major in high school. It is a yearlong course presented in a 3 period block. Explore, English 9, or permission of the Career & Technical Education Director is a prerequisite.
